Sea of Shadows with SSTO special guest Amelia Ross

Please join us on Friday, November 15th to watch the award-winning Sea of Shadows with our very special guest Amelia Ross – our very own SSTO volunteer! Amelia has been on our ocean campaign Operation Milagro twice to help save the vaquita from extinction. She and the fearless crew braved vessel attacks from angry poachers while trying to save the endangered vaquita, the endangered totoaba, and other marine life from being caught in illegal fishing nets. Sea of Shadows is a gripping, informative, and important film that features our Op Milagro Sea Shepherd crews in action. A special shout-out to Merchants of Green Coffee – big Sea Shepherd supporters :) who sell organic eco-friendly 100% certified Fairtrade coffee – for generously providing us with the screening space in their Restoration Café. See Space Details for TTC and parking details.Official Sea Shepherd merchandise will be available for purchase onsite. A $5-$10 DONATION at the door for Sea Shepherd Conservation Society would be greatly appreciated. Doors open at 7 p.m. Event begins at 7:30 p.m.LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE. We look forward to seeing you there!

About the film

A looming disaster in one of the most spectacular environments on Earth sparks a rescue mission unlike any other in Sea of Shadows, a riveting new documentary with the intensity of a Hollywood thriller from National Geographic Documentary Films and winner of the Sundance audience award. When Mexican drug cartels and Chinese traffickers join forces to poach the rare totoaba fish in the Sea of Cortez, their deadly methods threaten to destroy virtually all marine life in the region, including the most elusive and endangered whale species on Earth, the vaquita porpoise. Sea of Shadows follows a team of brilliant scientists, high-tech conservationists, investigative journalists and courageous undercover agents as well as the Mexican Navy as they put their lives on the line to save the last remaining vaquitas and bring the vicious international crime syndicate to justice.
