Gather

In honor of Native American Heritage Month, the Society for California Archaeology (SCA) in partnership with the Department of Anthropology at Washington State University (WSU) will be hosting a watch party for the important new film, "Gather." The watch party will be followed by a forum featuring reflections and discussions by a panel of Indigenous activists, leaders, and scholars, including Suntayea Steinruck (Tolowa Dee-ni' Nation), Gregg Castro (t'rowt'raahl Salinan/rumsien & ramaytush Ohlone), Samuel Gensaw III (Yurok Tribe, featured in Gather film), Casey Baulne (Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation), Maya Harjo (Quapaw, Shawnee, Muscogee Creek, Seminole, Jewish), and Sara Moncada (Yaqui/Irish). The forum will begin with an introduction from Shannon Tushingham, President Elect of the SCA and Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at WSU.The forum will take place on Zoom beginning at 6:30 PM PST immediately following the film. You will have the opportunity to present questions to the panelists using the interactive chat feature.
